Ukraine Trip 2007

Well, it is that time of year again! 12 of us are preparing to make the trek from Mount Juliet, TN to Donetsk, Ukraine. 9 of us will leave on July 19th, and 3 of us will fly over on July 26th. We plan to work with the Karlovka and Novoshelone Orphanages, teaching them Bible Classes. We will be conducting an evening V.B.S. in Proletarski and an evening campaign in Krasnoarmeysk. We are also planning to visit several local sites in Krasnoarmeysk to advertise the gospel meeting, and we plan on hosting a picnic for another orphanage. We will do our best to update this blog regularly, since this is the easiest way for everyone to stay informed about what is happening here.
Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we seek to do as much good as possible on this trip. Also, please leave comments on our blog while we are over there. We often share those with the entire group, and even if we don't have time to respond to each one, we truly appreciate them. Thank you!

Daddy, Hope you all are having a great trip there. Lisa said that you get to go to Greece. That's really cool. Little David's party is tomorrow at Chuck E Cheese. I think that Teresa is going to try to come. I have only had two people out of 22 respond that they are not coming so things ought to be interesting. I was just thinking about ya.

lyl,

Tina

Guys, I'm delighted that you all made it safely. I'm still dealing with my disappointment at not being able to be a part this year. The greatest experience of my life as a Christian was being there last year and being a part of such a great work. Tell everyone - translators, members of the Krasnoarmeysk congregation, Ray, Lynn, and all of the other wonderful people there - how much I miss being with them and how much I think of them. I trust that it will be God's will that I can be a part of next year's work. Have a great experience; may God richly bless all of you....In Christian love, Ben D.

Dear Mission Team,

In worship service this Sunday, it was good to think that the Mount Juliet Church of Christ was actively spreading the Gospel in Ukraine. Your trip is an encouragement for the whole congregation. Please know that we all are praying for your safety and success on this mission.

In Christian love,

Shannon Buckner

I took the 12:00 Old city tour. There is modern city tour at 16:00, too.
The guide was a friendly due with typical Ukrainian pronunciation, that is well understood yet. He brought in good info all the time and kept conversing with the diverse group that we were. Moreover, he helped me plan well the time needed for my return, as I had a flight to catch.
I recommend joining these tours, as you can always have a walk around the sites, but it is much, much better learning more about them by a guide, that has lived there and can bring some personal stories, too.
We discovered with http://www.privatetoursinistanbul.com and we highly suggest to anyone whom would like to visit that site.
